I want to buy an opener online and then get you guys to install it. But before buying I would like to know what is the difference between a belt and a chain garage door opener. Going trough the tech specs i don’t see any difference.

    Hey Jackson,

    That’s a great question.
    1. You are right – no difference in each opener except one! the belt or chain.

A belt garage door is different in the fact that it has a belt. That belt is made out of rubber with strings of metal running trough it. The fact that the outer part of belt touching rail is made of rubber makes it much quieter that a chain motor / opener.

So… if you are looking for a garage door opener that makes less noise you should go with the belt. It costs a bit more but I think it’s worth the difference in price which isn’t big.

Hope this helps, We would love to be of service installing your new garage door opener for you.

    Have a wonderful day.
    BBB Garage Doors.
