When should I replace a garage door?

I have an old garage door (about 12 years old) and it recently broke down. I was wondering when is the right time to replace a garage door rather than to fix one and what is the general / average price for a garage door these days?

Hi there Tom (great name 😉 ),

Based on what you say about your door, it is not unreasonable to have it replaced at this point. Some factors you should consider about your door, such as: Age, maintenance, material, open/close method, etc.

Like most things you buy- you get what you pay for. All of these factors you will also want to consider if you buy a new door as well. There are several attractive options at the lower end of the spectrum which (if cared for properly) can last you even a lifetime, it all comes down to how aesthetically pleasing you would like your new door to be. A company I happen to be fond of has a number of great options for your next garage door. Hope this was helpful Tom. If you have anymore questions let us know!

If you’re not sure what kind of door you are looking for, ask your garage door technician to help you find one that fits your needs for presentation and cost effectiveness.
